Frequently Asked Questions

When is Flow State?

Flow State is Friday, July 24, through Sunday, July 26, 2026.

Where is Flow State?

Flow State is held at the Ascutney Outdoors Center, 449 Ski Tow Rd, Brownsville, VT. Click here for Google Maps.

What’s included in my Flow State ticket?

It depends on the type of ticket, but generally your ticket gives you access to guided rides, bike demos, skills clinics, food trucks, our beer tent and live music. Click here for details.

What do I need to bring if I want to demo bikes?

You should bring a set of pedals, your ID and a credit card for the demo tent to hold as collateral.

Are e-MTBs allowed?

You bet! E-mtbs are allowed on all of Ascutney Trails Association’s trails.

Is there on-site camping for Flow State?

Yes! We have a limited number of on-site camping options including car-camping and trailside camping.

Do you sell single-day passes?

We will be selling single-day and music-only passes closer to the event and at the gate. Stay tuned.

Are there showers for those that are camping?

No. Sorry. But there is nearby river access.

Is there water access?

Yes! We will have a potable water access station as well as bike washing stations on-site.

Will there be food on site?

Yes, we have food vendors lined up to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all weekend long.

Will there be beer?

Yes. There will be a beer garden running each day, and we will also have non-beer options. Outside alcohol is not permitted in our festival perimeter. In line with town liquor regulations, we ask you to please refrain from drinking in the camping zones while our beer tent is open.

Will there be music?

We have bands scheduled for Friday and Saturday night. Click here for details.

What are the quiet hours?

Following local regulations, quiet hours are between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.

Is the event cash only?

Most vendors will probably accept credit cards, but we recommend bringing some cash just in case. WiFi can be spotty, so purchases may be easier with cash. There is no ATM on site. Please bring enough cash for the weekend or plan on going to a bank in Windsor, which is about a 10-minute drive away.

Can I volunteer?

Yes! We will be opening volunteer sign-ups soon. See here for more info.

Does Flow State have a military discount?

Yes. Flow State offers a discounted rate for active service members and veterans. Please contact us for details.

Do you offer Sunday tickets?

We do not sell tickets for Sunday because it is a shorter day. However, we will honor unchecked-in single-day tickets if that is the day you would prefer to attend. Guided rides and clinics are scheduled for Sunday, but there is no additional entertainment, no beer, and food options are limited.

If I’m not biking, can I just come hang out?

You need to have a ticket to attend Flow State. If you do not want to bike, we offer Music Only tickets, entry for which starts around 3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Learn more here. You can also volunteer for a shift or two and get access accordingly. As this is a fundraiser, all attendees must have a ticket to enter our perimeter.

Can youth under 12 attend?

Youth under 12 years old are free. Please note that we do not have any activities or rides geared specifically for this age group. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Is there an age restriction for volunteering?

We love having juniors join us, gain experience as volunteers, and be part of the next generation of Flow State. To help promote a safe and positive experience for all, volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult volunteer for the duration of their shift. Learn more here.

What is your return policy?

If you are unable to attend, we can refund your tickets. To request a refund, please contact us. Please note that refund requests within 20 days prior to our event may not be honored until after the event so our staff can focus on planning. Thanks for your patience.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are not allowed at the Flow State Mountain Bike Festival, as per Ascutney Trails Association’s official dog policy. Flow State is a pet-free event. If you bring your dog, you will be asked to leave. This policy is in the best interest of fellow festival attendees as well as dogs, who should not be left unattended or spend hours locked in a hot car in July while you are out riding.

The festival environment is often hot, crowded, and loud, and can be very stressful for animals. Even a usually well-behaved pet may behave otherwise. While many people have trail dogs join them on rides, the number of bikes on the trails would make it dangerous for dogs and humans at Flow State. Please be a responsible and loving dog parent by leaving them at home or making arrangements for a local kennel for the day or weekend.

What is ATA?

The Ascutney Trails Association, or ATA, is an energetic group of hikers, mountain bikers, backcountry skiers and outdoor enthusiasts overseeing trails on Mt. Ascutney and its surroundings. Their mission is to advocate for and maintain accessibility of low-impact trails and structures used for human-powered recreational activities in the townships of the Mt. Ascutney area, and to support and preserve the deep historic connection Mt. Ascutney has to Vermont and New Hampshire. ATA adheres to environmentally sound methods of responsible trail building, use and stewardship while promoting outdoor education and cooperation with landowners. Flow State is proud to partner with ATA.

What is Mountain Flyer?

Mountain Flyer is a premium-quality, large-format, biannual mountain bike journal based in Jeffersonville, Vermont. Our honest editorial and rich photography take you straight into the gritty, salt-stained core of the mountain bike scene. Our mission is to inspire our readers to ride and explore. Mountain Flyer is renowned for its photo-driven, feature-oriented storytelling, clean design and high-quality printing.

Where do the proceeds of Flow State go?

100% of profits go to ATA to help maintain their growing network of trails and bring commerce to the Windsor/Brownsville area.
